Spam Spam Spam

I’m really amused by this comment spam that I discovered in Akismet’s review list.

It almost makes sense, but then it fails.

It’s funny how easy it is to lose momentum writing a blog. One minute you’re bashing out post after post, and the next moment you realise you haven’t written anything for weeks. It’s not really for the lack of things to say either. It just seems a big effort at times to actually articulate the ideas that I have.

Really the same could be said about anything though.

I give myself a C- for effort – Must try harder

Ten Days

Ten days without a single post. I must have passed into another malaise sector.

Some comment spam amuses me. Most of the time it’s nonsensical crap that’s generated by some poor zombie bot-net computer in eastern Europe, but sometimes it manages to vomit up something remotely readable. I suppose if anyone ever wanted to prove the hypothesis about an infinite number of monkeys bashing at an infinite number of keyboards automated spam machines are probably as close as we’re going to get to testing the theory out.

Almost all of the comment spam this blog attracts, which is more than you might think, gets caught by the Akismet plugin and filed away in the trash behind the scenes. Occasionally though something new will manage to dodge the filters and end up posted on the site. I usually spot these fairly quickly in the comments list as they’re invariably attached to some ancient post that I don’t even remember writing, and they rarely have anything to do with the content of that post.

Today I found the comment below attached to an ancient post where I reminisced about bullying a mate’s wee brother with a fire extinguisher.

Eh?

Too long have I lain in dormancy…

In the immortal words of HP Lovecraft:

They were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape…but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone houses in Their great city of R’lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for Them.

There seem to be a couple of teething problems with the blog at the minute as it still shows the static “Game Over” page instead of the live post feed. At the minute for some reason it needs to be hard refreshed (CNTL+F5) to force it to load properly. I don’t it’s something to do with the length of time it was sitting with a static front page, but I’ll see if it’s something that I can fix from this end.
