It’s funny how easy it is to lose momentum writing a blog. One minute you’re bashing out post after post, and the next moment you realise you haven’t written anything for weeks. It’s not really for the lack of things to say either. It just seems a big effort at times to actually articulate the ideas that I have.
Really the same could be said about anything though.
I give myself a C- for effort – Must try harder
Ten days without a single post. I must have passed into another malaise sector.
Some comment spam amuses me. Most of the time it’s nonsensical crap that’s generated by some poor zombie bot-net computer in eastern Europe, but sometimes it manages to vomit up something remotely readable. I suppose if anyone ever wanted to prove the hypothesis about an infinite number of monkeys bashing at an infinite number of keyboards automated spam machines are probably as close as we’re going to get to testing the theory out.
Almost all of the comment spam this blog attracts, which is more than you might think, gets caught by the Akismet plugin and filed away in the trash behind the scenes. Occasionally though something new will manage to dodge the filters and end up posted on the site. I usually spot these fairly quickly in the comments list as they’re invariably attached to some ancient post that I don’t even remember writing, and they rarely have anything to do with the content of that post.
Today I found the comment below attached to an ancient post where I reminisced about bullying a mate’s wee brother with a fire extinguisher.

Eh?

It seems that the occasional bouts of importing and exporting that I’ve done on this blog due to various problems has created some unwanted duplication of the articles. I’ve had a trawl through and sorted them out now, but it’s cut down my post count a bit.
Ho hum I guess I’ll have to write more posts to make up for it.
In the immortal words of HP Lovecraft:
They were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape…but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone houses in Their great city of R’lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for Them.
There seem to be a couple of teething problems with the blog at the minute as it still shows the static “Game Over” page instead of the live post feed. At the minute for some reason it needs to be hard refreshed (CNTL+F5) to force it to load properly. I don’t it’s something to do with the length of time it was sitting with a static front page, but I’ll see if it’s something that I can fix from this end.
I’m intrigued by the post by email function built into the wordpress software, but I’m unsure how well it would work with this retarded work email service. I know I shouldn’t be posting stuff from work, but the mundane banality of my job often makes my mind wander to more lofty matters while my body is trapped in the hell of many spreadsheets.
As the suprise return of McDowall’s landlord has forced the itinerant couple into a premature house move I’ve taken it upon myself, with some urging from El Kat, to take steps to safeguard this blog for the future. At some point in the near future I hope to be able to regain possession of the famous greykodiak.co.uk domain name, but for the moment the one provided by wordpress.com will do the job.
Rumour has it, or at least the sneaky blog they’ve set up has it, that the famously restless McDowalls are at this very minute planning to up sticks and move all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to Canada. I’ll admit that I’ve a sneaking admiration for their ambition, but also a small twinge of sadness that they’re planning to head off into the wild blue yonder.I’ve known Mr McDowall a long time, and for the first time in many years he seems rested and content with his new wife and their rascally wee cat.
I can’t say I’m surprised as John has long said that he believes Scotland to be dying a death and I must reluctantly agree with him that socially, politically, spiritually and industrially the country is slowly losing everything that once made her great. You know things are getting bad when a journalist from Malawi tours Glasgow and tells the press that Scotland should keep the aid money it’s sending to Africa and try to improve things here first.
So I’ll do my bit and tell you all that the McDowalls are trying to raise enough money to move by selling their cherished Hyundai Coupe for a knock-down price of £3,500.

Tell your friends and family to have a look.
Of course since the McDowall man is good enough to host this blog I’m going to have to start looking for alternative place to keep my witterings in the near future.
